Network Or Boutique, Which one is best for you?

In Advertising there are 2 types of agencies on offer to you; the Network agency that is part of a large, structured, and experienced company that usually has decades of expertise across a vast range of creative services, the other is the Boutique that is a growing, independent, and horizontal structure that usually focuses on just a couple services.

As a Strategist, which one is best for your career?

Working across both types, I believe I have reached a conclusion. Its Network and here is why.

1. Structured Learning Process: Network agencies have cultivated a culture of strategy leading to strategists to draw on a wealth of expertise across the region, a range of tools that cover essential components of strategy that can be easily learnt and implemented, and lastly a set of clients that understand the value of strategy within communications.

2. Carefully Up-skilling Skill: Whether it be communications, media, or brand, Network agencies can offer the opportunities to try, test, and improve those skills by being able to offer those opportunities.

3. Travelling Across The World: Networks offer you the chance to reward success and effort with positions within your region or maybe on a global level which can not only improve your level of maturity by testing you to live in a completely different world but also as a strategist as you need to get to grips on the local culture and competitive landscape.

For all the promising strategists out there, Networks might be tough to begin with but it will be rewarding in the end.
